Here is a basic rundown of the war and what happened (or will happen in this case) on May 2, 1998. More details as they relate to certain characters will be added to this list as characters are applied for and their roles in the battle are discovered.

HOW YOUR CHARACTER FITS IN.
I. Throughout the war, Ministry officials and creatures on both sides, have been killed/incapacitated, and a character is free to mention that they had something to do with taking down one in their application/profile.

II. As for being on the dealing end of one of the specifically noted deaths listed at various points below that have yet to be assigned, claiming is on something of a first come, first serve basis.

III. You can also mention that your character was injured (great or not) by a DE or such (in fact we in courage it - don't be afraid to injure your character for a while, whether it's a day, two or a whole week; we're trying to be as realistic as possible), as long as you take into account where it would fit in the timeline below.

- Amycus and Alecto Carrow guard the Ravenclaw common room. Alecto is stunned by Luna, and when Amycus finds Alecto later on Harry uses the Cruciatus curse on him and he's ties up. Later Alecto wakes up and unties her brother and they join the war.

- After the Trio return to Hogwarts. Knowing that Voldemort and supporters are on their way, it is decided that the school must be evacuated. Ernie Macmillan asks about students that wish to fight and the decision is made that of-age students that wish to, may stay.

- Led by Argus Filch and Poppy Pomfrey, younger students and Slytherins are evacuated (including the all-important moment when Zacharias Smith pushes younger years out of his way to escape). When Pansy Parkinson wanted to hand Potter over, she was instructed to leave, along with other students not willing to fight.

- Death Eaters arrive on the grounds accompanied by Ministry officials, Aurors, Giants and Acromantulas. Left to defend Hogwarts are The Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts professors, and DA members and others who answered Neville Longbottom's call to fight. They split into the following groups: Fred + George Weasley, Lee Jordan and Hannah Abbott guard the secret passages, Filius Flitwich leads a group to the Ravenclaw Tower, Pomona Sprout to the Astronomy Tower, and Minerva McGonagall to the Gryffindor Tower.

- At the same time Harry, Ron and Hermione go to the Room of Requirement to search for the Ravenclaw's Diadem in the Room of Hidden Things (after being told about it by Terry Boot). Before they can take it or destroy it, Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle arrive. Hermione stuns Goyle. Crabbe makes an attempt to kill Ron and Hermione with Avada Kedavra and accidentally destroys the diadem with Fiendfyre, setting the entire room on fire as well and killing himself in the process. Ron and Hermione save Goyle and Harry saves Draco as they fly out on broomsticks.

- The battle continues.

Harry stuns a Death Eater Draco Malfoy is pleading to, Ron Weasley punches Draco.

- Harry discovers that Voldemort is at the shrieking shack where he, Ron and Hermione head, in the midst of a few of the events mentioned above. Dementors come upon them, and Seamus Finnigan, Ernie Macmillan and Luna Lovegood use their patronuses to help. Once at the Shrieking Shack, the trio witness Nagini murdering Severus Snape. Snape passes on several of his memories onto Harry before death.

- More, as the war continues on.

- Voldemort orders an hour-long ceasefire, and requests that Harry give himself up.

"If you continue to resist me, you will all die, one by one. I do not wish this to happen. Every drop of magical blood spilled is a loss and a waste... I command my forces to retreat immediately. You have one hour... I speak now, Harry Potter, directly to you... I shall wait for one hour in the Forbidden Forest. If, at the end of that hour, you have not come to me, have not given yourself up, then battle recommences. This time, I shall enter the fray myself, Harry Potter, and I shall find you, and I shall punish every last man, woman, and child who has tried to conceal you from me. One hour."

During this time, both sides back off. The injured try to get whatever help they can from Pomfrey once she returns, and deaths came to light. Specifically Oliver Wood and Neville Longbottom finding the body of Colin Creevey.

- Harry realises after viewing Snape's memories, that he himself is a Horcrux and that he must to die in order to kill Voldemort. He used the Resurrection stone to talk to his parents, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin before going into the Forbidden Forest to sacrifice himself. Harry survived, only knocked unconscious. Death Eaters and all look on and cheer while Harry makes the choice to continue living. Narcissa Malfoy is asked to confirm Harry's death, but once she finds out from Harry that Draco is still alive and safe, she lies.

- Rubeus Hagrid carries Harry's corpse back to Hogwarts, guided by Death Eaters in a victory march, and Voldemort announces Harry's 'death' to the defenders of Hogwarts. As everyone who stood by Harry come out, they scream and shout at the Death Eaters in anger. Voldemort asks Neville to join him, and Neville refuses. Voldemort places Neville in a Full Body-Bind, and then the sorting hat on his head, setting it on fire.

- The Centaurs and Grawp then attack the Death Eaters, giving Harry the time he needs to disappear under his Invisibility Cloak in all the confusion. In the meanwhile, Neville breaks free of Voldemort's curse and pulls Godric Gryffindor's sword from the Sorting Hat, and then beheads Nagini with it, also destroying the last Horcrux.

- Voldemort and what's left of his army force their way into Hogwarts, but there are additional Hogwarts allies that arrive at this time -- house elves led by Kreacher, as well as returning Slytherins, residents and shop owners of Hogsmeade, and the friends and families of every remaining student all lead by Charlie Weasley and Professor Slughorn. Not to mention a flock of Thestrals led by Buckbeak.

Lisa Turpin is thrown bodily off the Giant Staircase by Thorfin Rowle, leaving her unconscious.

Theodore Nott II + Tracey Davis get into a vicious duel resulting in the death of the former.

As this goes on, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy are very obviously not fighting, ducking curses and such as they both look for their son. At some point, Alecto Carrow drops off and runs shortly after she sees her brother go down.

- Harry manages to reach the Great Hall as Voldemort and his supporters continue to make their way into Hogwarts, but in the end, it turns out to only be himself and Bellatrix Lestrange.

Dennis Creevey + Adair Jugson get into a duel that very nearly ends the life of the former, but Adair Jugson is then killed by Susan Bones + Megan Jones

Upon seeing his brother lose and seeing his wife too close to Voldemort to escape, Rodolphus takes it upon himself to make sure he gets out at least. Mulciber and Avery take his cue as well.

- Voldemort takes on Minerva McGonagall, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Horace Slughorn at the same, and is infuriated by the fact that he can't defeat them. Simultaneously, Bellatrix takes on Hermione, Luna Lovegood and Ginny Weasley, but when a Killing Curse just barely misses Ginny, Molly Weasley forces the girls to step back and duels Bellatrix herself, refusing help. Bellatrix doesn't take Molly seriously, laughing at her and taunting her over Fred's recent death until Molly hits her with a well aimed spell that kills her instantly. Furious, Voldemort blasts Minerva, Kingsley and Horace aside and aims at Molly, but a shield cast by Harry keeps her out of harm's way. Harry then reveals himself, still alive, to the joy of his supporters.

- Harry vs. Voldemort. What everyone was waiting for. Voldemort casts a Killing Curse with the Elder Wand at Harry, who simultaneously casts his own Disarming Charm using Draco Malfoy's wand. However, because the Elder Wand rightfully belongs to Harry, the Killing Curse rebounds at Voldemort and ends his life once and for all. The Second Wizarding War ends with a decisive victory for the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore's Army.
